When the power came back on, my PC would not boot correctly (kept hanging on the black Windows screen). Should I return the drive, as HUTIL supposes after finishing all the tests? He says he has been told (by Samsung) that more details will be coming today.

Drive runs cool and fast. All tasks are done in Disk Utility. Could you provide us the exact error you get when scanning in the BIOS please. The firmware isn't returning the proper error code.

But my motherboard (being so old) works only with IDE hard drives, which after searching I realize are hard to find since everything is SATA now. I did a quick search of the error provided and it was not enough information. Of course, it's best to listen to Samsung on this one (and I haven't seen anything official from them yet). There, just type chkdsk /p/r and hit enter Afterwards, type exit and allow windows to load normally.
