Do you remember how did you install the last Eclipse plugin? Is this part of the problem? After installing EclipseME in this manner going to Help->Software Updates gave me the Error retrieving "feature.xml" problem. Very, very, stupid.

The features directory zip contains features in jar format, which is not supported (see my previous comments, such as comment #5). Agruss (Adobe) Jun 5, 2006 3:44 PM (in response to witharmshigh) Hello, What are you trying to install with Eclipse's Update Manager when you receive this error? -ChrisAg C. Thank you.. In fact, only 2 of the 10-12 plug-ins are available via an update site.

It led me to this web page: http://www.easywms.com/easywms/?q=en/node/97 …Sure enough, deleting site.xml from inside my eclipse installation directory made the problem magically go away. All rights reserved. ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATED

If not, those plug-ins are obviously invalid. Re: features.xml Retrieval error Larry McLister (Adobe) Jun 5, 2006 4:39 PM (in response to C. I assumed there was a problem with one of the 3rd party plug-ins, but the error message doesn't say anything about which file it is attempting to unzip or which plug-in This tool uses JavaScript and much of it will not work correctly without it enabled. I get > the error twice, but I can't tell which feature is causing the problem. > > How can I find and fix this problem. Information on the fix is here: http://www.easywms.com/easywms/?q=en/node/97 However, I think this needs to be addressed.

If OK then the old site.xml would be moved to site.xml.backup_ or something. his comment is here Please type your message and try again. Is the installation of plug-ins supported by simply dropping a JAR file? Other than that nothing really. Log in to post comments Sat, 2008-03-29 00:06 — Anonymous (not verified) Re: Error retrieving feature.xml in Eclipse--Using Software Upda Thank you very much!! Yes, a better error message should be written out when things fail, to be able to identify the file causing the problem. this contact form I beleive it is an issue with the CFEclipse plug in itself since we have seen this is an issue when you have a fresh version of Eclipse()i.e.

It seems to be preventing me from > installing new features. I really did not think about this topic before from your point of view. If there's more than one, but not too awfully many, perhaps paste them all here for comparison.

I did not attempt to remove these when I removed the plug-ins from the features and plugins directories.

Comment 3 Dorian Birsan 2004-10-14 09:47:29 EDT Tim, while the files in the configuration directory may play a role, the real culprit here is the *.jar files in the eclipse/features directory. I guess you download the package and unzip or just put it into Eclipse's directory, without using the Software Updates tool in Help menu in Eclipse. 1. I've only installed Flex Builder and the CF components. thx thx thx Log in to post comments Tue, 2007-04-10 04:07 — Anonymous (not verified) Thank you very much for Thank you very much for your post.

Worked wonderfully. We're investigating this with the CF team, and will let you know what sort of solution we find. Can you show us your logs?
