Whereas for the original error message you had originally put "/root/.DCOPserver_asus-1305264472_0", now you put "/home/user/.DCOPserver_asus-1305264472_0". Sometimes, when logging in, I get a large gray window titled "DCOP communications error (Twinkle)" with the following: There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. I had no F9 restore option in my grub menu. Fifth, I should explain that I am looking for where the computer stores DCOP session information --in particular, the session number "1305264472_0". There is also ~root/.gconf, ~root/.gconfd, and ~root/.gnome2 with a modification time over a month later. (Maybe I logged into X as root.)
